As the Israelites have entered into the Promised Land to possess it, so we, by our identification with Jesus, have died to the old and entered into the new life, the resurrection life of our Lord. In the Promised Land, there are battles, but we have been given His victory over all our "enemies."  (II Corinthians 2:14, 3:4-6 and 4:7-11)

 

The crossing of the Jordan illustrates our identification with Jesus Christ--we have died with Him to the old life and entered into the new life, the resurrection life of our Lord.  (Romans 6:3-5 and Hebrews 4:10-11)

Lord, we long to walk in that victory moment by moment. Teach us to “put to death" all that keeps us from living in your triumph, so that your victorious life will be manifested.

     3. (Personal) Consider that we too, like Achan, deserve death, and that instead of judgment we have been granted mercy, grace and God's life. When there is loss of fellowship with Him, what does God ask of you and what is His promise to you in I John 1:7-9? (Ask Him to search your heart and see if there is any form of coveting or other form of sin, which must be dealt with by His blood.)
 
 
5. Read Joshua 8:1-8 18, 26-35
