"A
new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I
have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are
My disciples, if you have love for one another." John
13:34-35
Jesus
said, "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to
lay down one’s life for his
friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. ...You did not choose Me, but I chose you
and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit."
John
15:12-16
His love for us
"God so
loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him
might be saved."
John 3:16
"God
demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having
now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from
wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we
were reconciled to God through the death of His Son,
much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His
life."
Romans 5:8-10
"Yet in
all these things we are more than conquerors through Him
who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death
nor life, nor angels nor
principalities nor powers, nor
things present nor things to come,
nor height nor depth,
nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us
from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans
8:37-39
"My flesh and my heart fail;
but God is the strength of my heart and my portion
forever."
Psalm 73:26
"In this
the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent
His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live
through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but
that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation
for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought
to love one another."
1 John 4:9-11
"...humble
yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you
in due time,
casting all your care upon Him, for He cares
for you.
"Be
sober, be
vigilant;
because your adversary the devil
walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are
experienced by your brethren that are in the world.
"But
may the God of all grace,
who called
us to His eternal
glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while,
perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
To Him be the
glory and the dominion forever and ever."
1 Peter 5:6-11
His love in us
"Now hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been
poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died
for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die;
yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were
still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:5-8
"...that you,
being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to
comprehend with all the saints what is the width and
length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ
which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the
fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly
abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the
power that works in us, to Him be glory..." Ephesians 3:17-21
"Love suffers long
and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is
not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is
not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but
rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails."
1 Corinthians
13:4-8
His love through us
"...that we should
no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with
every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning
craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in
love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head --
Christ...."
Ephesians 4:14-15
"For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have
the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and
individually members of one another."
Romans
12:4-8
"...be kind to one
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God
in Christ forgave you." Ephesians 4:32
“I say to you who hear:
Love your enemies, do good to those
who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those
who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one
cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your
cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who
asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask
them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do
to them likewise.
“...if you love those who love you, what
credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is
that to you? For even sinners do the same.... But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing
in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of
the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
“Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you
shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down,
shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For
with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to
you.
“...And why do you look at the speck in your
brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?"
Luke 6:27-41
"Let love be without hypocrisy.
Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love,
in honor
giving preference to one another; not lagging in diligence, fervent in
spirit, serving the Lord; rejoicing in hope, patient in
tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; distributing to the
needs of the saints, given to hospitality."
Romans 12:9-13
"Convince, rebuke,
exhort with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will
come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to
their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap
up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away
from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be
watchful in all things..." 2
Timothy 4:2-5
"... you will be hated by all
nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one
another, and will hate one another. ... But he who endures to the end shall be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a
witness to all the nations, and then the end will come."
Matthew
24:9-14
"Now may
our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and Father, who
has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and a
good hope by grace, comfort your hearts and establish
you in every good word and work."
2
Thessalonians 2:16-17
"To Him who
loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood,
and has made us kings and priests to His God and
Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
Amen."
Revelation 1:5-6
His love
forever!
"I have set the
Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices. ...
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore."
Psalm
16:8-9, 11
