Note:
God warned His
rebellious children, then comforted those who loved Him -- those
who "tremble at His word":
“...as they have
chosen their own ways,
And their soul delights in their abominations,
So will I choose their delusions, and bring their fears on them;
Because, when I called, no one answered,
When I spoke they did not hear;
But they did evil before My eyes,
And chose that in which I do not delight.”
Hear the word of the Lord,
You who tremble at His word...”
Isaiah 66:3-5
"...thus says the
Lord God, the Holy One of Israel:
'In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence
shall be your strength.'
But you would not..."
Isaiah 30:15-16
“They refuse to
return. I listened and heard, but they do not speak aright.
No man repented of his wickedness, saying, ‘ What have I done? ’
Everyone turned to his own course as the horse rushes into the
battle."
Jeremiah 8:5
“...you have polluted
the land with your harlotries and your wickedness.
Therefore the showers have been withheld,
And there has been no latter rain.
You have had a harlot’s forehead; you refuse to be
ashamed."
Jeremiah 3:2-3
"The people will be oppressed,
Every one by another and every one by his neighbor;
The child will be insolent toward the elder,
And the base toward the honorable."
Isaiah 3:5
"For they have brought evil upon themselves....
As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule
over them.
O My people! Those who lead you cause you to err,
And destroy the way of your paths."
Isaiah 3:9, 12
"I will go before
you and make the crooked places straight;
I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron.
I will give you the treasures of darkness
And hidden riches of secret places,
That you may know that I, the Lord, Who calls you by your
name,
Am the God of Israel....
I am the Lord, and there is no other;
There is no God besides Me."
Isaiah 45:2-5
“Then all the men
who knew that their wives had burned incense to other gods, with
all the women who stood by, a great multitude, and all the people
who dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying:
'As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord,
we will not listen to you! But we will certainly do
whatever has gone out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the
queen of heaven...."
Jeremiah 44:15-17
"...when they say
to you, 'Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and
mutter, should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the
dead on behalf of the living? "
Isaiah 8:18
"I will utter My
judgments against them concerning all their wickedness, because
they have forsaken Me, burned incense to other gods, and
worshiped the works of their own hands."
Jeremiah 1:16
“Thus says the Lord:
'Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk
in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’
"Also, I set watchmen over you, saying,
‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’
But they said, ‘We will not listen.’
“Therefore hear, you nations, and know, O congregation....
Behold, I will certainly bring calamity on this people — the fruit
of their thoughts,
Because they have not heeded My words,
Nor My law, but rejected it.”
Jeremiah 6:16-19
“...the Lord has
sent to you all His servants the prophets... but you have not
listened nor inclined your ear to hear. They said, ‘ Repent now
everyone of his evil way and his evil doings... and do not
provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not
harm you. ’ Yet you have not listened to Me, ' says the Lord, '
that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands
to your own hurt."
Jeremiah 25:4
The people who walked
in darkness have seen a great light;
Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,
Upon them a light has shined."
Isaiah 9:2
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6
"He was in the world,
and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But
as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become
children of God, to those who believe
in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the
will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."
John 1:10-13
