Christianity
4. "What makes Christianity more true than all the other religions which encourage us to do good?"
From Matthew Yates: Christianity is the only religion which does not require man to "earn" his way into Heaven. All other religions (Buddhism, Mormonism, etc.) require that a person prove himself worthy. Christianity emphasizes that no one is really worthy (Romans 3:23), but that God will overlook this if we allow Him (John 3:16). Entire books have been written on the subject of proving Jesus' divinity. Josh McDowell began his "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" as a nonbeliever and came out a believer. Also, his "More Than a Carpenter" is an excellent resource.
From Robert Pair:
"A true believer understands that while there is no way man can ever earn eternal salvation, there is but one way which God has provided whereby we can be saved, and that is by faith in the sacrificial death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord, by which our sins are punished in Christ, and God's righteousness in Christ is given to us." - Bob Deffinbaugh (C) 1998, Biblical Studies Foundation.
Christianity is the only faith that has been proven true by past and future events.... Prophecy!
"And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;" Isaiah 11:1-2
All the world knows of the spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD that Jesus had. No other human has even come close to effecting the world as he has.
"And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious." Isaiah 11:10
And it is true, that the Gentiles do seek Him, and rest in Him for salvation. The evidence of how true Christianity is, can be seen in how Christianity affects the world. Most of the laws that are for the good of man come from the Bible, both Old and New testament, through the influence of the Church and God fearing men and women. It is undeniable, that if each person followed what Jesus taught, and obeyed His teachings and laws, that this world would be a much better place.
It is also undeniable, that when a country turns from following what is written in the Bible, that the standard of living decreases tremendously, that wars breakout, and the worth of human life becomes almost nothing. This can be seen throughout history, you don't have to be a believer to see the evidence.
