5. What makes the form of Christianity taught in
the Bible more genuine that other forms of "Christianity?"
Anonymous: The thing to remember is that the definition of a Christian is "little Christ" meaning like Christ or "of Christ" etc.. Meaning an embodiment or temple of Christ. If one is Christian therefore he must be someone who would learn and follow as closely to the life and teachings of Jesus as he can. If someone were to truly follow the teachings of Christ he would have take verses like this one below seriously.
"Then He said to them all, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.'" (Luke 9:23-26)
If one were to read this and not respond in obedience to what it says he would have
to realize that calling himself a Christian is nothing other than hypocrisy. Jesus
requires full submission to God and all of scripture, even the parts that are offensive.
Of course, this kind of submission is impossible for us. Therefore He offers us His own
life and strength to enable us to follow.
