Here is a song I often sing silently to Him in the morning when I wake up -- and
as He brings it to my mind day or night. A wonderful pianist and friend plays
the melody (which should start in less than a minute). You probably recognize it
as "I dreamed a dream" from Les Miserables. I hope you will enjoy
singing the words as a prayer to our wonderful Lord.
The music will start with an introduction
-- then the melody follows.
I love
You Lord,
my dearest Friend,
You fill my heart
with grateful wonder
You guide my steps
through every storm
You
give me rest by Your still water.
You are
my Savior and my
Song
Your
death has ransomed me from judgment.
I
mourned my sins, and You forgave.
Now I
can share Your Life each moment.
When the darkness
hides Your Way
and
temptations press around me.
When I feel too
tired to pray
Your sweet
promises sustain me - in - your - love.
Just listen to the piano without the
words through the next verse,
then sing the final two verses with the
music.
For You're the
Rock on which I stand
You are my Hope
when comforts crumble
You quench the foe
with Your strong hand,
None can
restrain Your will and power!
You
are my Strength from day to day
Oh may I live this
life to please You --
obey
Your Word and walk Your Way
Oh, give me
grace to love you more!
Those words bring these Scriptures -- and many more
-- to my mind:
Verse 1.
Jesus said, "You are My friends if you do
whatever I command you....I have called you friends, for all things that I
heard from My Father I have made known to you." John 15:13-15
"The Lord is my
shepherd... He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;" Psalm 23:1-2
Verse 2. "The Lord is my
strength and song, and
He has become my salvation." Psalm 118:13
“For there is one God and one Mediator
between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a
ransom for all."
1 Timothy 2:5
"...godly sorrow produces
repentance leading to salvation,
not to be regretted...."
2 Corinthians 7:9-10
"...in Him we live and move and have our
being." Acts 17:27-28
Verse 3. "I will give you the treasures of
darkness.... that you may know that I, the Lord,
Who
call you by your name, Am the God of Israel."
Isaiah 45:3
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you
may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle
against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against
the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the
whole armor of God,
that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to
stand." Ephesians 6:11-13
Verse 4. "I will love You, O Lord, my
strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my
strength, in whom I will trust..." Psalm18:1
Verse 5. "God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm
73:26
"Therefore
we
make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing
to Him. For we must all appear before the judgment seat of
Christ...." 2
Corinthians 5:9-10
"Jesus said to him, 'I
am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" John
14:6
"At
that day you will know that
I am in My Father, and
you in Me, and
I in you.
He who has My commandments and
keeps them, it is he who loves Me.
And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and
manifest Myself to him.... If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with
him. He who does not love Me does not keep My words...."
John
14:20-23
