Is This America? Part 5 By Mary Ann Collins April 10, 2008 |
|
In an old patriotic song, America is called "the land of the free and the home of the brave." Unfortunately, she is losing her freedom and her sovereignty. And if the "thought police" and the liberal media are successful, then there will be fewer Americans with the understanding, motivation, and courage to protect her freedom.
THOUGHT POLICE on COLLEGE CAMPUSES
The University of Delaware has about 7,000 students living on campus. It requires these students "to adopt highly specific university-approved views on issues ranging from politics to race, sexuality, sociology, moral philosophy and environmentalism." Students are "pressured or even required" to make statements that comply with the school's views.1
Being quiet about their beliefs isn't enough to keep students out of trouble. They are interviewed, one-on-one, with intrusive questions. If they fail to give politically correct answers, then a report is written about them, and they are subjected to "treatment" -- compulsory re-education. (This is a state university, which means that it is supported by taxes. Therefore, people who would be appalled by such things are required by law to support them financially.)
One of the university's views is that all whites of European descent are, by definition, racists. That would include William Wilberforce, a white Englishman who spent his life working for the abolition of slavery.2 And it would include James Reeb, a white American man who was beaten to death by segregationists on March 11, 1965, because he participated in Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s march for civil rights in Selma, Alabama.3
It would also include my friend Sheila, a white woman who also participated in that civil rights march in Selma. Although timid by nature, Sheila could be strong when it came to standing up for what she believed in. She risked her life to participate in that march, and she had to face police dogs and cattle prods. But the University of Delaware says that Sheila is a racist because she is white.
It would also include white couples who adopt black children. And it would include whites who marry blacks. According to the university, these people are, by definition, racists -- no matter how they behave, and no matter what they believe.
According to the University of Delaware's definition of racism, it is impossible for blacks to be racists.
If some drunken white men beat a black man to death, while cursing him and using the N-word, that is obviously racism. But, according to the university, if some drunken black men beat a white man to death, while cursing him and calling him Whitey, that is not racism. It cannot be racism, because blacks (according to the university) cannot be racists.1
So "racism" has nothing to do with behavior, beliefs, and motives. It is all about the university's philosophy. What men and women actually think, and how they actually behave, is irrelevant.
There is more involved here than the problem of coercion, mind control, the unconstitutional lack of freedom of conscience, and the unconstitutional lack of freedom of speech. What does this do to the ability of students to think logically and to deal with objective facts?
This creates a generation of students whose beliefs and behavior are ruled by propaganda instead of logical thinking. Such people can easily be manipulated by clever slogans, clever music, and clever TV ads. It is a perfect set-up for power-hungry politicians.

THE AMERO and BEYOND
According to a Canadian company that specializes in global finances, within ten years the Amero may be the currency of all of North America.4
On October 8, 2007, Vicente Fox (the former President of Mexico) was interviewed on Larry King Live. He openly confirmed that he, President Bush, and the Prime Minister of Canada had developed a plan to develop a regional currency for the three nations.5 (You can get a video of the interview from CNN.)
Fox also confirmed long-term plans to have all of Latin America share a common currency. He said that their "very long term" plan was a trade union that would include "all of the Americas" (i.e., the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America). This implies some kind of multi-national organization similar to the European Union.
Fifty-three African nations are working on developing an African Union. This includes a common currency called the Gold Mandela.6
Now some experts are calling for a "single global currency."7
PROMOTING ISLAM in AMERICAN SCHOOLS
Islam is being taught in some American public schools. Textbooks use multiculturalism as an excuse to give a totally favorable view of Muslim life and religion. They conveniently overlook the many religious wars where Muslims tried to force people to convert to Islam or be killed. They also fail to inform students about how Muslim women are treated in some Muslim countries.8
In some public schools, students are required to memorize the "five pillars of Islam." In Oregon, one mother protested because her son was being taught Muslim prayers, and dressing like a Muslim.9
Harvard University is also promoting Islam. It has a $20 million "university-wide program in Islamic studies."10 That sounds as if a wide variety of different academic studies will be used to promote Islam.
Georgetown University also has a program in Islamic studies. Since significant funding comes from Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, presumably these programs promote Islam.11
THE NORTH AMERICAN ARMY
On February 14, 2008, the United States and Canada signed a military agreement called the Civil Assistance Plan. This was done without Congressional approval, and with little or no media attention.12
This is a "bilateral military plan" that enables Canadian troops to "respond quickly" to American requests for "military support of civil authorities." (Of course, it also enables American troops to do the same thing for Canadian civil authorities.) This could be done for a wide variety of emergencies, including natural disasters, health epidemics, terrorist attacks, and civil disturbances.
According to Dr. Jerome Corsi, who is closely monitoring the development of the North American Union, this appears to be an incremental step toward creating a North American military force.13
MARTIAL LAW
On May 9, 2007, President Bush signed National Security Presidential Directive 51. (It is also known as Homeland Security Presidential Directive 20.) According to this directive, the President can declare a national emergency. He can do it by himself, without the approval of Congress.14
Once a national emergency has been declared, then the President can "take over all government functions." He can also "direct all private sector activities." And this will continue until the President declares that the national emergency is over.
If American troops are inadequate to enforce this (or object to doing it), then the President can enlist the military help of Canadian troops. (See the above section on the North American Army.)
ABUSE OF SCHOOL CHILDREN BY SCHOOL AUTHORITIES
In 2003, an eighth-grade student was strip searched in attempt to find Ibuprofen (the main ingredient of Motrin, Advil, and other mild pain relievers). Not heroin or crack cocaine. Just Ibuprofen (a mild over-the-counter remedy for headaches, cramps, etc).. This girl had no record of disciplinary problems. And she was a good student, an honor student. She was strip searched. Literally. Including the crotch of her panties. Her principal said that it was no big deal, but her parents took it to court. The Court of Appeals ruled that this search did not violate the girl's Fourth Amendment rights.15
This heavy-handed treatment was emotional abuse of an innocent school girl with a good record. Considering the kind of strip-searching that was done, you could even call it sexual abuse. The girl was afraid to resist because she feared that lack of compliance would result in something even worse. But the courts didn't have any problem with this, and the media didn't report it.
We can expect this kind of behavior in police states -- but not in America.
This is especially strange if you consider what a strong emphasis schools used to have on "positive self esteem." They were so afraid of hurting the self esteem of pupils that some educators didn't even want to give them grades. Now they treat innocent students as if they were criminals. What does that do to their self esteem?
WHAT CAN WE DO?
We need to remember that our true citizenship is in heaven -- not here. (Philippians 3:20) As the old Spiritual says, "I am a poor wayfaring stranger, a wandering through this world of woe. But there's no trouble, toil or danger, in that bright land to which I go."
We need to remember that, no matter what happens to us and the people we love, God's grace is sufficient for us, and for them. And if we feel weak in the face of things that are going on, then we need to remember that God's strength is made perfect in weakness. (See 2 Corinthians 12:9)
We are not at the mercy of any person or any situation. If we truly love God, then He will use everything that happens to us to bring us closer to Him, to teach us to trust Him at a deeper level, to strengthen our love for Him and our commitment to Him and His ways, and to develop Godly character in us.
"In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)
"My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations [trials]; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing." (James 1:2-4)
"Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations [trials]: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:6-7)
Comment: (From George Cancilla) Is the United States of America “one nation under God,” or is it a nation under servitude to a government that is in opposition to the values and laws of God? Any government or kingdom that supports and promotes theft, lies, murder (abortion), homosexuality, communism, adultery, and false balances (economic and fiscal mismanagement), is in opposition to the Kingdom of Heaven. During the 19th Century the U.S. grew as an economic and political power. At the same time, the church began to diminish as a cultural institution, replaced by a new civil religion that embraced humanism. Many Americans have misunderstood what liberty and freedom are. True freedom is an experience that comes from knowing and obeying Jesus. It is not something a worldly government can either grant or deny. Many citizens of the U.S. have fallen prey to the presumptuous notion that their nation is God’s chosen people. The pride that citizens express in “the American way of life” wreaks havoc on the fundamental equality and unity of God’s universal church, the Body of Christ.
Most Americans have been deceived into looking to their government for security, instead of looking to God. Even though the U.S. has developed a national system that has provided sustenance and security, the citizens must remember that the power God gives any nation can be removed at His discretion.
Americans have been deceived about the way God has blessed them—economic wealth is rarely a sign of God’s blessing. Money is a powerful force, and one that can easily become a false god. The power of the U.S. body politic has come from economic and political domination. Maintaining affluence has been a contributing factor to the wars the U.S. has waged abroad; and the country has stretched its debt load to a point of impossibility of paying it off. “A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children…” (Proverbs 13:22). Americans used to be able to take pride in their system of justice, but judges have ruled in ways that are not in accordance with Scripture and Truth. Most recently, 400 plus children were taken away from their parents in a Texas cult church, without due process of law.
Today’s citizens of the U.S. have inherited lies, vanity, and materialism. The people will be wise to know that the Lord will curse the man who trust in man, and whose heart is not with God. (see Jeremiah 17:5-11). People of the U.S. need to ask forgiveness of God for the patriotic idols they have created, and for their arrogance in relating to other nations. Most Americans are slaves to wealth and greed, and there is blood on the hands of many who have supported, or even sat back and did nothing, the taking of lives to appease their idols.
Would you rather be a proud American, or would you rather be a humble servant of Jesus Christ?
