McCain to attend convention of 'reconquista' group: "Sen. John McCain... will attend the national convention of La Raza [The Race], a radical Hispanic lobby tied to the movement to reconquer the Southwestern U.S. that was part of Mexico before the Mexican-American War that ended in 1848. The convention will be held in San Diego July 14."
Brown Berets de Aztlan are recruiting and forming new chapters : "'The Brown Berets de Aztlan have undertaken an active campaign to recruit more soldiers and form new chapters throughout Aztlan,' said Chairman David Rico yesterday. Whether or not we want to hear about this rising cultural battle, we need to understand what is happening. Those of us who know and love precious Mexican friends and immigrants find it hard to believe that American citizens might face the kind of lawlessness that could border on civil war. The information below -- biases from both sides -- may help explain the spreading crisis.
What is the meaning of the word Aztlan? "Aztlan is the mythical place of origin of the Aztec peoples.... In Chicano folklore, Aztlan is often appropriated as the name for that portion of Mexico that was taken over by the United States after the Mexican-American War of 1846."
WHAT IS MEChA ... and Aztlan? "The acronym MEChA stands for 'Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlan' or 'Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan.' MEChA is an Hispanic separatist organization that encourages anti-American activities.... At the MEChA National Conference on March 15 - 18, 2001, the official 'MEChA Philosophy' was ratified. An excerpt from the document states: ' as Mechistas, we vow to work for the liberation of Aztlan.' ...
"MEChA groups exist on 90 percent of the public high school, college and university campuses in the Southwestern United States.'... [A Chicano Studies textbook] says 'Latinos are now realizing that the power to control Aztlan may once again be in their hands.'... Shown are the 'repatriated' eight or nine states including Colorado, California, Arizona, Texas, Utah, New Mexico, Oregon and parts of Washington....
"'La Raza' (The Race) is a broad term which refers to those whose ancestry is indigenous to the area of Mexico (or 'Aztlan'). ... The most visible of these groups are MEChA, The Brown Berets de Aztlan, OLA (Organization for the Liberation of Aztlan), La Raza Unida Party, and the 'Nation of Aztlan'...."Antonia Darder, a professor of education and cultural studies at Claremont Graduate University... described American capitalism..... Fidel Castro... says US should return Aztlan back to Mexico: "'He said that in effect, Mexicans are reconquering their own land. Castro's comments were contained in a speech he gave at the close of an international congress of educators in Havana, the Cuban capital, including several hundred teachers from Mexico."
Our virtual U.S. government: "Mexico's Televisa television network: 'With all due respect to Uncle Sam, this shows Los Angeles has never stopped being ours.'... In 1997, then Mexican President Zedillo addressing a Chicago audience announced that the Mexican nation extended beyond its borders. ...
"L.A. Mayor Villaraigosa's close friend Mario Obledo, co-founder of MALDEF (Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund) and winner of the 1998 Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded by President Clinton, made these racist remarks ....'We're going to take over all the political institutions of California, in five years, we're going to be the majority population in this state. California is going to be a Hispanic state and anyone who doesn't like it should leave' and 'Well, if they (Anglos) don't like Mexicans they ought to leave. They ought to go back to Europe.'" Mexico is global turnstile to U.S. - More non-Mexicans are crossing border: "U.S. agents along the southwestern border increasingly catch illegal immigrants from throughout the world - not just from Mexico....

...in fiscal years 2002 to 2005 came mostly from Central America and Brazil. Also among them were: Iranians (95), Iraqis (74), Pakistanis (660), Syrians (52), Yemenis (40), Egyptians (106) and Lebanese (91). ...They are from among 35 'special-interest' nations the State Department lists as hotbeds for terrorism. ... Violence is up - attacks on Border Patrol agents topped 700 last year... Illegal immigrants occupy nearly 5 percent of U.S. jobs...."

Mexico Demands U.S. Allow More Immigration: "Diplomats from Mexico and Central America on Monday demanded guest worker programs and the legalization of undocumented migrants in the United States, while criticizing a U.S. proposal for tougher border enforcement. Meeting in Mexico's capital, the regional officials... indirectly condemned a U.S. bill that would make illegal entry a felony and extend border walls.... Mexicans working in the United States are a huge source of revenue for Mexico, sending home more than $16 billion in remittances in 2004."
August 2005
Half of Mexico Wants to Move to the U.S.: "The surveys of Mexican citizens by the Pew Hispanic Center also found that increased education and an improved standard of living won't dampen the stampede of illegals coming across the border. The two surveys conducted in Mexico asked: 'If at this moment you had the means and opportunity to go to live in the USA, would you go?' Almost half - 46 percent - said yes. America's immigration education crisis: "... 40 languages are spoken among those 25,000 illegal alien children in the Denver school system. No, it’s not their fault, but it is a menacing problem for this country. Their parents are functionally illiterate in English, thus, cannot help their own children. Additionally, no amount of ESL classes can solve the problem with over 50 languages because no teacher can conduct classes in English with any hope of success. Thus, drugs, extortion, violence and even killings occurred in the 2004/05 school year....

Why the border patrol can't do its job: "Are members of Congress affected by illegal aliens? Do their daughters get raped like the eight women raped by illegals in Boulder, Colorado last year? Do they catch the diseases like the 30 school kids who contracted tuberculosis from unscreened illegal alien kids in Michigan? How about the eight police officers who contracted TB from illegal aliens they arrested in Austin, Minnesota in 2003? Do the drugs being brought over our border annually by illegal aliens addict Congress’ kids? Did any members of Congress have their vehicles stolen out of the Congressional parking lot like the 57,600 cars that were stolen by illegals in Phoenix last year?" L.A. now in Mexico? Billboard for TV newscast has 'CA' crossed
: "An immigration activist group is drawing attention to a photograph showing a billboard ad for a Spanish-language TV newscast in L.A. on which the 'CA' abbreviation after 'Los Angeles' has been crossed out and the word 'Mexico' added in its place...."'Last week, I thought I noticed something strange on one of billboards. ... I went by again the next day and verified that the CA was crossed out and replaced with MEXICO.'"

Immigration/US Borders: "Mexico will pursue legal action against plans by a U.S. citizens' group to patrol the U.S.-Mexican border in search of illegal immigrants, the country's foreign minister said on Monday. Luis Ernesto Derbez said he asked lawyers in Los Angeles to draw up a legal strategy to fight the Arizona-based initiative called 'the MinuteMan Project' that has signed up hundreds of volunteers for border patrols." Mexico threatens Arizona over anti-illegals measure: "A Mexican government official has threatened to use international courts to block an Arizona law meant to prohibit illegal aliens from receiving public benefits and voting rights. ... Mexican officials have repeatedly complained about Proposition 200, which went into effect Tuesday. The statewide measure denies most taxpayer benefits to illegal aliens.... Illegal alien handbook for breaking into America: "The 32-page book, 'The Guide for the Mexican Migrant,' was
published in December by Mexico's Foreign Ministry.... 'Using simple language, the book offers safety information for border crossers.... 'Dramatic drawings show undocumented immigrants wading into a river, running from the U.S. Border Patrol and crouching near a hole in a border fence. On other pages, they hike through a desert with rock formations reminiscent of Arizona and are caught by a stern-faced Border Patrol agent.' ... Seven pages are devoted to migrants' legal rights after they are detained and another four to living peacefully in the United States. But it offers no detailed information on applying for U.S. visas. Instead, it gives tips on such things as what to wear when crossing rivers or how to avoid dehydration when crossing the desert...."White House spokesman Taylor Gross... said that 'the president has an excellent working relationship with the Mexican government' and that both governments /are committed to ensuring migration into the U.S. is safe, orderly and legal.'"
Homeland insecurity: The year in review: "2004 was a good year for terrorists, violent gang members, law-breakers and fraud artists seeking safe haven in America.... The savage El Salvador-based gang, Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13), has now penetrated more than a dozen states. ... Active in alien, drug and weapons smuggling, MS-13 members in America have been tied to numerous killings, robberies, carjackings, extortions and rapes. In July, two alert Border Patrol agents apprehended Farida Goolam Mohamed Ahmed at McAllen (Texas) airport. She was carrying an altered South African passport.... She confessed to having entered the country illegally by crossing the Rio Grande River.
