The three men were arrested and bomb-sniffing dogs found traces of explosives in their luggage. However, they were released upon intervention of the FBI shortly thereafter....

      "[Congressman] Rohrabacher was vice chair of the House Task Force on Unconventional Warfare and Terrorism. Daily analysis 9-7-06: "The good news is that a political debate over the situation in Iraq—how it deteriorated and what to do about it—now rages in America. But against the backdrop of a midterm election campaign, there has been little room for a constructive discourse about the war.

   This was Council on Foreign Relations' home page introduction to an article full of bad news. The above word "debate" is misleading, since few know enough facts to truly debate. Instead people "dialogue" the issues -- which is "good news" to those who want to prepare the masses for their global agenda. Annan, Not Israel, to Decide on Makeup of Peacekeeping Force: "A new row is brewing between Israel and the United Nations over which of the U.N.'s member-states should be eligible to contribute troops to a mission to keep the peace between Israel and Shi'ite terrorists in Lebanon. Countries that do not recognize and have diplomatic relations with Israel should not participate in a beefed-up UNIFIL mission in Lebanon, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's government declared."

France has strong historical links with Lebanon, a country it administered between 1920 and 1943. After the Iranian revolution, however, its ties with the small Mediterranean nation were severely strained when Hizballah killed 58 French troops.... Israel’s Disproportionate Response: "The second reason that using the term 'disproportionate' is silly is that most of the major and earth shattering events of history seem to be disproportionate responses to apparently trivial incidents....  Of course we all realize that those seemingly trivial incidents did not really trigger great upheavals all on their own. Iran warns the west: ignore us at your peril: "Iran warned the west yesterday that attempts to broker a Lebanon peace deal at today's Rome summit are destined to fail and it predicted a backlash across the Muslim world unless Israel's military forces were immediately reined in.... Hizbullah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, said his group's missiles would start hitting targets deeper into Israel, and warned he would not accept a "humiliating" ceasefire."

 

Raise Readiness, Assad Tells Syrian Army: "Syrian President Bashar al-Assad told the Syrian military on Monday to raise its readiness, pledging not to abandon support for Lebanese resistance against Israel." See Signs of the times

 

Homeland Security. Israeli targets in U.S. on heightened alert: "Israel has raised the level of alert for its embassies and consulates worldwide.... FBI officials told reporters last week they were searching for possible Hezbollah agents operating inside the U.S. amid concerns escalating tensions with Iran could trigger attacks on American soil."

 

Homeland Security.  Oklahoma terror network to assist Hezbollah attacks in US?  "There is a terror network... working directly with AlFuqra, AlQaeda, Islamic Jihad, Hamas and Hezbollah (and previously with Iraq and currently with Syria and Iran) capable of assisting in carrying out the current threats of Hezbollah attacks in the US.... Members of this network were directly involved in the 1993 WTC bombing, OKC bombing and the 9/11 attacks."

Europe won't call Hezbollah terrorists: "Despite growing international awareness about the dangers posed to Mideast stability by Hizballah, the European Union has yet to outlaw the group or move to block its funding."

Pacifists versus peace: "One of the many failings of our educational system is that it sends out into the world people who cannot tell rhetoric from reality. 'Peace' movements are among those who take advantage of this widespread inability to see beyond rhetoric to realities."

Questions and Answers on Hostilities Between Israel and Hezbollah: "The current armed conflict between Hezbollah and Israel is governed by international treaty as well as the rules of customary international humanitarian law. The treaty, specifically, common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions of 1949 to which Israel is a party, sets forth minimum standards for all parties to a conflict between a state party such as Israel and a non-state party such as Hezbollah."

Proposal for UN Standing Army Would See UN Head Trumping Security Council: "A book launched at the United Nations headquarters today proposes a permanent standing UN army with 'rapid reaction capability' under the sole direct command of the UN.... Unlike previous proposals for a UN army, these latest proposals call for an army consisting of troops that would not be accountable to any nation or state.... The UN force would consist of 12,000 to 15,000 'civilian, police, judicial, military, and relief professionals' composed of 'individually recruited' volunteers from many countries, which means that this army 'within a single command structure' would have direct loyalty to the UN, 'avoiding divided loyalties.'"

 

NCLB (No Child Left Behind) outrages: "Military recruiters want to 'own the schools,' flatly stating so in the School Recruiting Program Handbook. Here's what the handbook wants of teachers, called 'centers of influence': 'Encourage students to defer college until serving in the Army.' School districts apparently view the military's 'rights' as somehow exceeding those of parents and students.... [and] go all out accommodating military recruiters daily.

      "...after attending the year's first school staff meeting, the Army treated teachers to a sumptuous lunch in the school cafeteria....

      "Military recruiters work cafeterias or hallways at every urban, suburban, and rural public school.... In a captive market (compulsory attendance), isolated from advisers whose foremost goal is their student's best interests (parents), salesmen pitch products they're not obligated to provide (read the enlistment contract), spinning only the 'sexy' stuff (try pushing discussions about death and amputations), to youth deeply worried about how they'll make it in this world."

 

WMD Recovered In Iraq: "Reading from unclassified portions of a document developed by the U.S. intelligence community, Santorum said, 'Since 2003, coalition forces have recovered approximately 500 weapons munitions which contain degraded mustard or sarin nerve agent.... Pre-Gulf War Iraqi chemical weapons could be sold on the Black Market.... The possibility of use outside of Iraq cannot be ruled out.'... 'The idea that... there are no weapons of mass destruction is in fact false.' Santorum said."

 

Congress to hold hearings into OKC bombing examining foreign connection to plot, including Arab terrorists: "'Rohrabacher said that Terry Nichols' trips to the Philippines would be examined for links to a theory that he was actually meeting with Middle East radicals who were providing him with support. 'I also will call witnesses who say they saw (convicted conspirator Timothy) McVeigh with Arabs in Oklahoma City,' he told this newspaper."

 

America's Other Border: "...the U.S.-Mexican border has dominated much of the U.S. public's attention in recent months. Yet, as revelations emerge about an alleged Islamic terrorist cell in Canada, the calls for better control over the world's longest undefended border now have new life....
