Driving from Vidin to Sofia, Bulgaria, page 18
A flat tire gave us the opportunity to scout out scenes we would otherwise have missed. On the left side of the road we saw a former commune with an old-fashioned silo. The field was dotted with tall yellow stalks of a flower that seemed ubiquitous to Bulgaria. On the right side, a polluted creek wound its way around roots and garbage -- a welcome refuge for ducks, chicken, bugs and boys.
