By Thomas Sowell: "An expansion of the welfare state in hard times seems to have been the secret of FDR's great political success in the midst of economic disaster. An economic study published in a scholarly journal in 2004 concluded that the Roosevelt administration's policies prolonged the Great Depression by several years. But few people read economic studies.
"...polls which show 'any Republican' with more public support than Obama does not mean that Obama will lose. The president...is going to run against some specific Republican, and that Republican can expect to be attacked, denounced and denigrated for months on end before the November 2012 elections -- not only by the Democrats, but also by the media that is heavily pro-Democrat."
Democratic National Convention Using Extortion Tactics with North Carolina Businesses: "When Charlotte, North Carolina mayor, Anthony Foxx campaigned to host the Democratic National Convention in his city, he assured local business owners that there would be plenty of work for them in conjunction with the convention.... However, to some local business owners, that is not the case. More than one local business owner has been notified by the DNC that they would not be getting any of their business since they were not unionized."
Now Democrats want Obama off ballot: "The newest poll...says one-third of Democrats and independents who lean to the left side of the field are unhappy with Barack Obama as the party's standard-bearer and are looking for some new faces to enter the race...The largest camp, nearly 44 percent, said Obama should be challenged by Hillary Clinton.... In what could be another omen for Obama, his support faltered badly among Hispanics, where nearly 41 percent said they wanted another choice on the Democratic side."
Thousands of fraud cases just 'tip of iceberg.' New warning of 'total breakdown in cohesion of American society' : "A group that monitors elections in Minnesota and roots out fraudulent votes is warning ballot fraud is on the rise across the nation, and if unchecked, the ultimate consequences would be an electorate that simply doesn't believe the system works and refuses to participate.... The group identified a wide range of illegal votes, including incapacitated patients at a mental health home...and are not eligible to vote [and] 'upwards of 2,800 ineligible felons believed to have unlawfully voted in Minnesota's 2008 general election.'... Sen. Al Franken, D-Minn., may not have won, although he has been casting votes from his U.S. Senate seat ever since.
"...a number of names among ACORN's 'shock troops' have been linked to or convicted of perjury, forgery, identity theft and election fraud in recent years....The organization for which Obama at one point trained activists and to which he directed grants while aboard the management of the Woods Fund established a reputation for doing pretty much as it pleases, the report said." Complaints of illegal votes, bribes, ballot irregularities commonplace: "In the heated race in Nevada between Democratic Sen. Harry Reid and GOP challenger Sharron Angle...Republican Party legal counsel has already filed a 44-page complaint alleging voter logs in a pair of counties showed the number of ballots cast was larger than the number of voters who signed the election registers. Furthermore, Angle's campaign has alleged Reid and Democratic union backers were illegally buying votes with free food and Starbucks gift cards....
"In Houston, Texas, a volunteer watchdog organization discovered... 23,000 phony voter registrations... including a woman who registered six times in the same day, registrations of non-citizens and 1,597 registrations that named the same person multiple times....In North Carolina...voting machines were 'flipping' straight-ticket Republican votes to straight-ticket Democrat votes..." U.S. citizens clean House: "...the transfer of power on Capitol Hill means Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif. – who powered several bills through Congress, including the health-care reform act branded as Obamacare – will lose her position as House speaker in 2011. ...For those who think the government is spending too much and bailing out too many, Boehner [the leading Republican in line to be the new speaker of the House, said] 'This is their opportunity to be heard.'"

Vote Fraud Threatens Election Outcome: An Interview with Hans von Spakovsky: "I know from people I talk to within the Obama administration, that they have absolutely no interest whatsoever in prosecuting voter fraud cases....That was also demonstrated this year in their reluctance to get into enforcing the federal law that guarantees the right of military people to vote overseas, and, also, the fact that they have completely failed to go after states who haven’t cleaned up their voter registration lists by taking people who are dead, or people who have moved, off of their lists. That’s actually a real scandal....
"...the problem, really, is not so much the ballots themselves as not having clean voter registration rolls so that people who shouldn’t be voting—because they don’t really exist, or they’re registered more than once, or aren’t U.S. citizens—can go in and vote, whether it’s on electronic machine or whether it’s using paper ballots that are then scanned and counted."

Nevada voting machines automatically checking Harry Reid's name: "Since early voting started, there have been credible reports that voting machines in Clark County, Nevada are automatically checking Harry Reid's name on the ballot: Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid's name was already checked.... She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen...

Cities Weigh Letting Noncitizens Vote: "Like his neighbors, Claude Rwaganje pays taxes on his income and taxes on his cars. His children have gone to Portland's public schools. He's interested in the workings of Maine's largest city, which he has called home for 13 years. There's one vital difference, though: Rwaganje isn't a U.S. citizen and isn't allowed to vote on those taxes or on school issues. That may soon change." See The UN Plan for Global Migration
New York Violating MOVE Act: "More than one week after its extended deadline, New York still hasn’t mailed out absentee ballots to all its 320,000 military servicemen and women and overseas voters....'The gravity of New York's failure cannot be overstated. With approximately 50,000 military and overseas voters in New York City alone, there is no doubt that the November elections could be altered by this failure.'...
"E-mail requests for comment sent to the co-directors, other Board of Elections officials and its spokesman were not returned..... Sen. Schumer said: "Put these ballots on the next plane to Afghanistan. These soldiers sacrifice their lives to protect our freedoms, they should never, ever be denied their right to vote. I wrote and passed this law so our brave men and women overseas would no longer be disenfranchised and there is absolutely no excuse for failing to get this done."
The Left’s Voter Fraud Whitewash: "Faced with multiple reports of early voting irregularities and election shenanigans across the country, left-wing groups are playing dumb, deaf and blind. Voter fraud? What voter fraud?
"More cunningly, these organizations are seeking to marginalize complaints about election integrity by casting citizen watchdog efforts as racist' scare tactics.'.... 'Private efforts to police the polls create a real risk of vote suppression, regardless of their intent,” said [liberal voting rights advocate] Weiser....'People need to know that any form of discrimination, intimidation or challenge to voters without adequate basis is illegal or improper.'...
"Weiser also turned up in a very similar story minimizing voter fraud and voter registration fraud that was published Tuesday by government-sponsored National Public Radio. The NPR report asserted that 'most election experts' believe that fears of voter fraud are 'overblown.' No word on how many 'experts' they surveyed (besides Weiser) to report such a conclusion, which flies in the face of dozens of felony voter fraud convictions across the country."
Arizona Law Requiring Voters Prove Citizenship Is Struck Down: "A federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down a key part of Arizona's law requiring voters to prove they are citizens before registering to vote and to show identification before casting ballots." See The UN Plan for Global Migration
Forget New Black Panthers, feds think whites intimidate Nightsticks? "President Obama's Department of Justice, the same agency that stunningly dismissed most counts against baton-waving New Black Panthers who confronted Philadelphia voters in front of a polling place in 2008, now is jumping into the investigation of allegations that members of the 'white middle class' intimidated minority voters in Harris County, Texas, by 'hovering.'...
"Because of concerns over the integrity of elections, several groups researched the voting procedures and records. Among the results was that of the 25,000 voter registrations submitted by a group called Houston Votes, headed by a man who also worked for the Service Employees International Union [SEIU], only 1,793 actually were valid. Given that evidence, when early voting in the county opened this week, there were a number of teams that went into some of the suspect areas to monitor the voting."
Hacked Voting System Stored Accessible Password: "Washington, DC, began testing its internet voting system last Tuesday in advance of the November elections. The system, paid for in part with a $300,000 federal grant, is designed to let overseas military and civilian voters cast ballots quickly, instead of relying on the postal system to deliver their votes in a timely manner. But within 36 hours of the system going live, Halderman’s team found and exploited a shell-injection vulnerability that 'gave us almost total control of the server software, including the ability to change votes and reveal voters’ secret ballots.'....The hack left lots of traces that an intrusion detection system should have caught."
