Oakland could go to pot in a big way with four proposed factory farms: "Oakland [CA] could approve a plan Tuesday to set up four marijuana factory farms, a step that could usher in the era of Big Pot. The proposal is a testament to just how fast the marijuana counterculture is transforming into a corporate culture....What caught the City Council's attention was... at least $1.5 million a year in taxes. 15 dead in Love Parade stampede: “'The tunnel was dark, it was full. Something happened - whether someone tripped or someone fell I don’t know. But there was a stampede to get to the other end and those who fell… well, many of them never got up again.' Another witness...said he tried to warn police before the stampede occurred that a catastrophe was building. 'A friend and I got out as hundreds more poured in,' he said. 'Gay' plan for bathrooms called 'moral insanity': "A Christian organization in Maine is asking its constituents to protest a state proposal that would give boys who call themselves girls full access to girls' restrooms, locker rooms and cheerleading squads. The Christian Civic League of Maine said in a statement the 'latest demand by the homosexual lobby is quite intolerable, having sunk to the level of an impossible absurdity.' Planned Parenthood Trains Ecuadorean Children to Inject Each Other with Contraceptives: "An article in Global Health magazine by Planned Parenthood vice president of international programs, Veena Siddharth, states that the world's biggest abortion promoter is now training children as young as 11 to inject their fellows with the abortifacient injectable birth-control drug Depo-Provera....
'“It’s absolutely outrageous and, of course, this would be totally illegal here in the United States,' Sedlak said....
"Planned Parenthood's use of children with only minimal training to administer this program, which would violate FDA regulations if attempted in the US, raises the questions not only of the safety of giving youngsters syringes containing a dangerous drug in order to inject other children, but of the effect of the drug.... ember 2008Narco violence is exploding -- just as oil prices are plunging and Mexico is bracing for a deep U.S. recession: "This year, through mid-November, there have been 4,300-plus drug-related deaths in Mexico, compared with 2,500 in 2007. Edgar Millán Gómez, who oversaw the joint efforts of the army and federal police, was assassinated in May in his home in Mexico City. Roberto Velasco Bravo, a federal chief of criminal investigations, was shot in the head a week earlier. The narco-traficantes have infiltrated the highest levels of law enforcement....

Lesbians, condoms go wild in attack on Christian church: "Worshippers at a Bible-teaching church in Lansing, Mich., were stunned Sunday when members of a pro-homosexual, pro-anarchy organization named Bash Back interrupted their service to fling propaganda and condoms around the sanctuary, drape a profane banner from the balcony.... Printed material protesters distributed said, 'We specialize in confronting homophobia, transphobia and every and all other forms of oppression.'...

After... the blasphemy ended... the pastor took the stage and led the congregation in one more prayer ... not for retribution... but instead that the troubled individuals... so full of anger and hate, would know Jesus' love in their lives and God's peace that exceeds human understanding."

S.F. gay community an epicenter for new strain of virulent staph: "The study... found the highest concentrations of infection by the drug-resistant bug in and around San Francisco's Castro district and among patients who visit health clinics that treat HIV infections in gay men in San Francisco and Boston. The culprit is a form of MRSA, or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, a bug that was once confined to hospitalized patients but, since the late 1990s, has been circulating outside medical settings, afflicting anyone from injection-drug users to elementary school students....'This is a national problem, and San Francisco is at the epicenter.'...
"The germ typically causes boils and other skin and soft-tissue infections.... According to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, various forms of MRSA are causing 95,000 of these more costly and potentially life-threatening infections - and 19,000 deaths - annually in the United States. Until last year, staph infections had never been linked to sexual activity.....The new variant of USA300 is resistant to the antibiotics erythromycin, clindamycin, tetracycline, Cipro-like antibiotics..." Drug-resistant staph found to be passed in gay sex: "A drug-resistant strain of potentially deadly bacteria has moved beyond the borders of U.S. hospitals and is being transmitted among gay men during sex, researchers said on Monday. They said methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, or MRSA, is beginning to appear outside hospitals in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles. Sexually active gay men in San Francisco are 13 times more likely to be infected than their heterosexual neighbors, the researchers reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine.....This superbug can cause life-threatening and disfiguring infections and can often only be treated with expensive, intravenous antibiotics. It killed about 19,000 Americans in 2005, most of them in hospitals..."

It's called strawberry quick -- strawberry flavoring added to methamphetamine to make it taste more like candy.... Feds asked to investigate 'obscenity' in school curriculum: "'No one is ridiculous enough to cry 'censorship' or 'book-burning' when school officials refuse to select Penthouse or Playboy as reading material for 15-year-olds,' Fyke says. Yet the five books mentioned in LOVE's complaint, she asserts, 'contain similarly graphic material in written form [and] are equally inappropriate.'

...one of the main issues under consideration in the case is whether the books cited in LOVE's complaint meet the legal definition of pornography. That definition, he noted, includes books that have no literary or educational value and appeal solely to readers’ prurient interest in sex."

The lingerie store has just put on a display of half-naked and sexually suggestive mannequins. The theme of the display is sadomasochism and lesbianism."

Hitting the books: "Objections of Arkansas parents to graphic descriptions of sexual acts in books offered to students in their school libraries have fueled a feud in the Ozarks. ... The school superintendent compares the protests of parents to 'cancer.'...
"One book for children in kindergarten through fourth grade, "'It's So Amazing,' raised parents' ire with its narrative and illustrations portraying, with a positive tone, masturbation, homosexual relationships and abortion. A book for ninth-graders called 'The Teenage Guy's Survival Guide' describes pornography as 'natural and fine.' ....
"'They're beyond vile,' Mrs. Taylor said of the 53 novels her group has asked the school board to sequester.... 'They're not informational, they're not sex education. They're just pandering sex to young people."
